  난 아빠가 파산하게 될까 봐 걱정이 돼.

A : I'm worried that my father's business might go belly up.
B : He built that business from the ground up.
A : Yeah, he put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making it successful.
B : Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

A : 난 아빠가 파산하게 될까봐 걱정이 돼.
B : 그는 처음부터 튼튼하게 잘 해왔잖아.
A : 맞아. 정말 많은 심혈을 기울여서 회사를 성공적으로 이끌었지.
B : 만약 내가 도울 수 있는 일이 있으면 말해줘. 

▶ go belly up ‘파산하다/망하다/실패하다’ 물고기가 죽을 때 belly(배)가 위로 한 상태로 둥둥 뜨잖아요, 그 모습을 상상해보세요. 
go bankrupt. This is usually said about a business or other organization. This expression comes from the early 1900's and is an allusion to the floating position of a dead fish.

▶ from the ground up ‘밑바닥에서부터 끝까지/ 처음부터 시작해/완전히/철저하게’ 이 표현은 집을 차곡차곡 아래서부터 위로 쌓아서 올려 짓는 것을 연상하시면 쉽게 이해가 됩니다.
starting with nothing. This expression brings to mind the building of a house gradually from the foundation to the highest level. 

▶ blood, sweat, and tears '많은 노력/심혈을 기울임' 1940년5월13일 그가 수상에 취임한 직후 의회에서 연설한 내용 중에 실린 한 구절입니다. 이때 히틀러의 기갑군단은 벨기에, 네덜란드, 룩셈부르크를 짓밟고 프랑스를 침범하고 있었습니다. 오랫동안 전쟁을 기피하려는영국정치인들과 영국국민들의 비난과 경멸을 받아가면서 히틀러의 위험성을 경고한 스피치에서 유래됐습니다. 하지만, 사실 성경에서 가장 먼저 쓰이긴 했답니다.
Hard work and effort in difficult circumstances. This expression is usually said to have been coined by Sir Winston Churchill in his famous speech in 1940, when he warned the British people of the hardships to come in fighting WWII. However, the first usage of this expression is in the Bible.
