  간혹, 우리 보스는 너무 세세한 것에 신경을 쓰고 큰 그림은 못 보는 것 같아. 

A : I swear. Sometimes the boss can't see the forest for the trees.
B : Hey, don't let it get you down. He's just one of those garden variety bureaucrats that detest change.
A : Well, I think it's time he was put out to pasture.
B : Remember little strokes fell great oaks. Give it some time. He'll come around.

A: 아 진짜… 간혹, 우리 보스는 너무 세세한 것에 신경을 쓰고 큰 그림은 못 보는 겻 같아. 
B: 이봐, 너무 실망하지는 마. 그는 변화를 싫어하는 그냥 그저 평범한 관료일뿐이야.
A: 글세…나는 이제 그가 물러날 때 가 되었다고 봐.
B: 알잖아. 열 번 찍어 안 넘어 가는 나무 없잖아. 시간을 두고 해보자. 그도 네 입장을 이해하게 될거야.

▶ Can't see the forest for the trees 너무 작은 것에 연연하다가 전체를 못 보는 사람을 두고 쓰는 표현입니다. 어떤 일을 계획하거나 실행해 나갈 때 큰 그림을 그릴 수 없음을 이야기 합니다. 16세기 때부터 쓰여진 표현입니다.
An expression used of someone who is too involved in the details of a problem to look at the situation as a whole. Not being able to see the big picture. This saying dates back to the 16th century.

▶ little strokes fell great oaks 꾸준히 약한 힘으로 계속적으로 하면 위대한 일도 할수 있다는 표현입니다. 이 속담은 벤자민 프랭클린의 명언이기도 합니다.
Limited strength, when persistently applied, can accomplish great feats. This proverb is attributed to Benjamin Franklin.

▶ put ~ out to pasture 너무 늙은 가축들은 늙어서 일을 할 수가 없을 때 pasture(목초지)에 가서 느긋하게 풀을 뜯으면서 남은 시간을 보내는 것에서 나온 표현입니다. '물러나다', '은퇴하다'는 표현이 됩니다.
to make someone retire because they are too old to be useful. When a horse gets old and can no longer work, it is released into the pasture so it can live out its days with no work.
