On December 22nd  Ministry of National Safety & Security announced that all fire stations will be working on special alert standby mode to quickly respond for various potential disasters during Christmas and year end activities.

Preventative patrolling will be fortified in the areas more susceptible to safety accidents such as traditional open markets, department stores, movie theatres, etc. created by higher excitement and festivity social atmosphere due to Christmas and year end events.

Nationwide 449 locations with safety concerns including major Sunrise attractions are main locations where 532 fire trucks and 119 ambulances will be dispatched, and in particular, pre-inspections of Fire Works launching facilities, etc. will be conducted at major scale Sunrise event locations, as well as setting up of an on-site command center to post fire trucks, emergency ambulances and security staff, establishing relevant inter-agencies’ collaborative action plans to respond promptly in emergencies.

In addition, the 205 fire stations nationwide mobilized firefighters and volunteer firefighters to strengthen safety management of the vulnerable areas for fire, and will be switching to emergency work mode in order to fully stand ready for any types of disaster.  Park In Yong Minister of National Safety & Security stated,  “Due to high temperature falls, more incidences of fire are expected from the increased usages of heating equipment; thus, we kindly request the general public’s caution in managing fire related equipment and in order to prevent safety accidents caused by indiscriminate use of Wind Paper Lamps and fire crackers during the New Year’s Eve and Sunrise events, we request refraining of using the fire crackers.”
