A : I agree that she's no dumb bunny, but I don't think we should change horses in midstream.
B : Well, we've gotta do something to get this economy going again.

A : 너 어제 TV토론을 봤니?
B : 응, 내 생각에는 그 여성 후보자가 현직 주지사를 바보로 만들고 있는 것 같아.
A : 맞아. 그녀가 멍청이는 절대 아니지. 하지만 난 우리가 지지하는 후보를 바꿔선 안되다고 생각해.
B : 맞아, 경제가 다시 잘 돌아가게 하기 위해서 우리가 뭔가를 해야만 해!

▶ make a monkey out of (someone) ’~를 바보로 만들다/ 바보처럼 보이게 만들다‘는 뜻입니다. 이 표현은 원숭이가 가진 우스꽝스러운 이미지를 빌려 쓰는 표현입니다.
to make someone look ridiculous or foolish. A monkey would look foolish trying to do things that a human can do.

▶ a dumb bunny 남을 잘 믿는 사람/ 좀 모자라는 사람을 말합니다. 보통은 여성에게 쓰는 표현입니다. 이 용어는 1950년대부터 쓰여졌는데요, 당시 사람들이 이 표현이 매우 귀엽다고 생각했답니다.
a gullible or silly person who doesn`t ever quite get it, usually a woman. This expression came from the 1950's when people thought such phrases were cute.

▶ change horses in midstream 직역을 하면 ‘강을 건너는 중간에는 말을 바꿔 타다’라는 표현으로문맥 상 이 표현은 ‘어떤 일을 하다가 중간에 바꾸다’라는 뜻입니다. 이 표현은 1864년 Abraham Lincoln에 의해서 유명해 졌습니다. 보통 부정문으로 사용됩니다. (Don’t change horses in midstream.)
This refers to someone literally trying to move from one horse to another while crossing a stream. Over time, it has also come to mean to make major changes after something has already begun. This expression was made popular by Abraham Lincoln in 1864.
